FaceTite Scottsdale
How does FaceTite compare with a surgical facelift? If you’re thinking about having one of these procedures, how can you choose?
Advantages of FaceTite
The primary reason that many people choose FaceTite is that it’s nonsurgical. The incision from this procedure is a very tiny one, compared with a more significant scar from a facelift. (The facelift incision is generally discreet once it heals, but a scar is unavoidable with any surgery.) There is just one very small hole through which the device is inserted under the skin.
In addition, FaceTite requires only local anesthesia. By contrast, facelifts are usually performed under general anesthesia. You will be able to drive yourself home after your FaceTite procedure, and the recovery will be easier than after a facelift.
There is also less downtime required with FaceTite. Although you will have some bruising and swelling after the procedure, most people take just a few days off work to recover. You would still not want to schedule your FaceTite treatment right before a big event (such as a wedding), but there will not be as much downtime with this treatment as there is after surgery.
Advantages of a facelift
A surgical facelift is simply unparalleled in its ability to reverse the signs of aging. Especially in the hands of a true expert like Dr. Henderson, there’s no other treatment that can equal it. For those who want a more dramatic change in their appearance, a surgical facelift is most likely to meet their goals for their appearance.
Although FaceTite is a powerful treatment, there are still some issues that it can’t address. For example, although FaceTite can remove unwanted fat, it cannot reposition fat pads. It also can’t reposition muscles under the skin. In a facelift, Dr. Henderson is able to address all of the tissues. The results of a facelift are apparent almost immediately (after the swelling goes down), while FaceTite results appear slowly over the course of up to a year.
FaceTite does offer tightening of the skin, but it’s limited in how much it can accomplish because no excess tissue is removed. For those who have significant skin laxity, or whose skin is no longer as elastic as it used to be, a facelift will generally provide a better result. A general rule of thumb is that FaceTite will accomplish about 50 to 70% of what a facelift can offer.

In general, FaceTite tends to be appropriate for younger patients (in their 30s, 40s, or 50s) who still have good skin tone, who are looking for a moderate amount of rejuvenation, and who prefer a nonsurgical procedure. A surgical facelift may be a better option for those who are older, who have significant skin laxity, and/or who want to have a more dramatic rejuvenation of the face.
