Lip Enhancement in Scottsdale- Dr. Pamela Henderson
Improve Your Smile With Lip Enhancements in Scottsdale
The tissue around our lips is sensitive and often shows some of the earliest signs of aging. Wrinkling and thinning lips can make an individual appear much older, even when they are still young. For this reason, many women seek treatments to achieve a youthful and more sensual appearance. Dr. Henderson offers many options for lip enhancements at her Scottsdale, Arizona office.
What lip enhancement options are available?
Individuals seeking lip enhancements have several options available to them. One of the most common lip enhancements in Scottsdale is an injectable treatment. These treatments, such as Restalyne® and Juvéderm®, are convenient but temporary, lasting several months before repeat treatments are necessary to maintain the look. Fat transfer provides natural, long-lasting results, but can require additional treatments because the fat does not all survive the treatment. For a more permanent solution, many patients turn to lip implants. The implant is available in various sizes to meet your desired look and can be removed and exchanged if desired.
The choice of lip enhancement is determined by the results that are desired. For added volume Dr. Henderson may suggest simple dermal injections that plump and enhance the lip. Individuals with a thinning or long upper lip may require surgical implant or advancement to correct the appearance. The desired results are achieved when the vermillion (red) area of the lip creates a youthful and plump appearance.
Am I a good candidate for lip enhancements?
Individuals who are of good physical and mental health that desire a more pronounced and symmetrical lip may be good candidates for lip enhancements. Patients will meet with Dr. Pamela Henderson for a consultation to evaluate the lip’s current size and discuss options for the enhancement. Dr. Henderson can help determine which option is best for your desired results.
What happens during the lip enhancement procedure?
Patients receiving injectable fillers typically only receive a topical analgesic treatment before injections and are on their way in a matter of minutes. For lip implants, patients are given local anesthesia before the outpatient procedure. Small incisions are made on the inside corners of the mouth to allow access to the upper and lower lips. A tunnel is created along the wet/dry border so that a grasping instrument can pull the implant into the tunnel for correct symmetry. The incisions are closed with dissolvable sutures.
What is the recovery process?
Minor bruising and swelling is expected as the body reacts and heals from the procedure. Dr. Henderson recommends icing the area after the procedure to reduce these effects. Bruising will resolve gradually between seven to ten days, however swelling can persist for several weeks. After several days, a gentle massage is recommended to maintain the position of the implant. After two weeks, stretching exercises will improve lip flexibility and mobility.
